Create a budget home office for £300

For many, we don’t have a dedicated office space at home so with the new work from home rules we’ve been making do, utilising any space we can. That may mean you feel like there are no boundaries between work and home, you may be dealing with family interruptions or struggling to contain the workload and stop it taking over your home. To help separate work and home, here are some of my top tips for creating a productive office space.

1. Try to carve some space in your home that will become your home office. Choose somewhere away from your bedroom and living space, as these are areas you need to come at the end of the day and relax, away from work. Be creative, do you have under stairs space that can be used as an office, A landing large enough for a desk or perhaps a spare bedroom that is currently redundant that can double up as an office. You may also wish to consider a workstation, stylish, functional and with the ability to close the doors at the end of the day. I love this one from Neptune.

2. Try to find a space that will allow you to minimise interruptions, my favourite is a spare bedroom because you can enforce some working rules while you’re in here, close the door at the end of the day and separate it from your home life.

3. Make sure you have a comfortable working area. You’ll find your productivity levels are increased. A good desk and chair are a must!

4. Light is extremely important to productivity. If you can try and find somewhere with good natural light, by a window. And don’t forget a desk lamp for when light levels are low, low light can impact your eyes and cause fatigue.

5. Invest in some storage or shelves if you can. It will enable you to remain organised and keep focussed while working from home and stop everything from spilling into home life.

6. Add some greenery. It has been scientifically proven that by simply adding plants to your work space, it could help you achieve a greater sense of wellbeing, reduce your stress, boost creativity, and make you more productive.

7. Introduce some scents to your space with candles and diffusers to promote wellbeing and encourage motivation and focus. I love Chapter Organics and trust their scents to fill my working day with balance and motivation.

You don’t need a huge space to create a functional office space, nor do you need to spend a fortune. I’ve created a simple budget office space just for you, that’s both functional and beautiful for only £300. Shop the look now!
